AeroCell™
|
AeroCell™ is a lung-based drug delivery platform to treat lung diseases (e.g.,
antibiotics or pulmonary hypertension drugs) or drugs designed to pass through
the lungs as a portal to the blood stream to provide more rapid onset. AeroCell™
is a modification of the drug delivery cartridge that provides appropriate droplet
sizes to deliver drugs into the deep bronchi and alveoli of the lung for both local
and systemic therapies.
The flexibility offered by different configurations of our device allows delivery of
the therapeutic agent to be targeted from the nasal cavity to the deep lung. For
our proprietary drug product programs our strategy is to use the AeroCell™
technology to deliver known and approved drugs to the relevant part of the
airways. This targeted delivery direct to the point of need may offer significant
advantages over current modes of delivery e.g. through oral or IV therapy.
In addition to our proprietary programs, we are actively seeking drug delivery,
pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners with which to develop inhaled
delivery solutions for vaccines and other needed therapeutics. Initially we
anticipate that some of these molecules, like our proprietary targets, will be well
known drugs not currently targeted directly to the lung. As well as providing
additional options for the treatment of lung conditions, the AeroCell™ technology
will serve to add value to our partners as a Product Life Cycle Management tool.
Longer term, we will seek to develop novel and custom compounds for delivery
as drug/device combination product offerings using our technology platform.
