Technology Overview
|
Unlike other technologies on the market, AeroCell™ and AeroVax™ comprise a
disposable drug cartridge that encompasses the vibrating mesh and drug
reservoir, allowing our ultrasonic vibrating mesh technology (VMT) to reliably and
efficiently aerosolize and deposit therapeutics and vaccines to the appropriate
region of the respiratory tract. AeroVax™ will deliver vaccines via an inexpensive
disposable cartridge that can be discarded after a single use.
A piezoelectric transducer coupled to a horn transmits ultrasonic energy to the
disposable cartridge to aerosolize medication from the medication reservoir.
Unlike existing VMT technologies where the fluid makes direct contact with the
vibrating horn or mesh element, the fluid pathway never contacts the vibrating
horn element thereby obviating the potential for fouling.
